Baby massage has long been part of ancient tradition (starting from India) and is now being rediscovered by the Western world. Research has shown that loving, nurturing contact between parent and infant, has a positive impact on their development. The benefits can include, building trust, helping with post natal depression, promoting relaxtion (to both parent and infant) and relieving trapped wind/colic.
Through teaching massage, I have learnt to appreciate the special bond that is created by the use of touch between parent and baby. The use of massage crosses over well with improving development, including the use of daily tummy time to help build core and neck control. I utilise my specialist paediatric physio skills, to also highlight important developmental milestones for your baby as well techniques to encourage good development.
